Installation of CCTransfer is fairly easy and will only take some moments. It is recommended that you close all applications before proceeding. We will assume that the distribution was unzipped to C:\Temp on your PC with WinZIP or a similar program. Note: When unzipping, you must select "Use folder names" in WinZIP or an equivalent option if you use any other comression tool. You should then find the following directory structure:
Now make sure that your mobile device is connected to your PC and working properly. Then, on your desktop PC run the file CCSETUP.EXE located in the root directory of the distribution and follow the instructions on your screen. If the setup program can't connect to the mobile services or doesn't find a CE device within a couple of seconds, an error message is issued and the setup program will terminate.
The setup program will then call the mobile services Application Manager to install the appropriate binary onto your device and will create an entry for "CCTransfer" under "Cocos Development" in the programs folder of your taskbar.
You can now run CCTransfer from the programs folder of your taskbar or through the RUN-command of your explorer or file manager. If your device doesn't provide an explorer you are invited to try CCExplore from Cocos Development Ltd. See our website for more information.
If you get an eror message on SH3 devices (HP Jornada) when you try to launch CCTransfer, it may be necessary to run the appropriate CAB file directly from your Palm PC's explorer. Please see also the FAQ section of our website for troubleshooting.
Note, that all documentation remains in the Doc folder of the distribution on your desktop PC. After CCTransfer was successfully installed you can safely delete the Bin folder and its sub folders.
